From the discussion on the PPS WhatsApp group, it appears that there are quite some discriminations between student for paying the printing of manuscripts. The faculty covers 250€, but depending on your field it might not be enough.
Some extra funding is sometimes offered by promoters, but that’s a case-by-case scenario that depends a lot of the lab finances (which we know is not always great). Another alternative is to use money from scholarships, but again we all have very different financial demands and that fund might not be enough to cover the entire work. Most importantly, what about self-funded students ? It would be of great help to have a fund for students in need, especially considering the price increase in the printing sector and the discrepancy between lab fundings.
